Compress HEIC

Compress HEIC files to reduce their size while keeping HEIC output. Choose a quality level, compare the result, and keep the original until you are satisfied.

Make a HEIC file smaller without changing formats

Use the HEIC compressor when you want a smaller HEIC file, not a JPG, PNG, or PDF copy. Compression trades some image quality for a smaller file.

How to compress HEIC

Choose the HEIC image, select the compression quality you want, and start the compression. The result stays in HEIC format.

If file size matters, try a balanced setting first and compare the result before using a more aggressive setting.

File size and image quality

There is no single percentage that every HEIC file will shrink by. The result depends on the image itself and the quality setting you choose.

Judge the compressed file by both size and appearance. A smaller file is only useful if it still looks good enough for how you plan to use it.

Processing and metadata

The HEIC compressor uses Cloud processing, so the file is uploaded to Morphio. Uploaded images are deleted by default after one day.

Supported metadata is kept when the compression path can preserve it, but HEIC-specific information may not always survive every processing step.

Check the compressed file

Compare the result with the original at the size you care about. Check important detail, orientation, metadata you need, and whether the new file is small enough to solve the original problem.

To check the picture without changing it, open the HEIC viewer.

Compressing vs. converting

Compress HEIC when you want to keep the HEIC format but reduce file size. Convert to JPG, PNG, WebP, or PDF when the problem is format compatibility rather than size.

A simple rule

Reduce a HEIC file when the format already works for you and the main problem is size. If an app or website does not accept HEIC at all, convert the file instead.
